Do I have to live In Oldham
County in order to be in the pageants?
Yes, you do have to live in Oldham County for more than 50%
of the year and at the time of the application. Please note, you will have to provide proof of your residency.
College age students that live on campus also qualify if their permanent residence (such as a parents house) is in Oldham
County and they can provide proof of their residency.
What is "proof of age"?
Proof of age is documentation that proves a contestants date of birth. You may provide a copy of a birth
certificate, immunization record, report card, insurance card or anything that has the date of birth listed.
What
is "proof of residency"?
Proof of residency is documentation that proves that the address
given on the entry form is your place of residence and is in Oldham County. You can provide a copy of a gas bill, water
bill, electric bill, mortgage or rent agreement. Anything that has the contestants parent/guardian name listed as well
as the address on the entry form. If the contestant lives on their own, the proof of residency should have their name
listed along with the address on the entry form.
What are the contestants going to have to wear in
the pageants?
The rules and apparel are listed on the corresponding pageant's page of our website. For
example, if you are wondering what a contestant of the Miss Oldham County Fair Pageant will be required to wear, please visit
the "Miss" page located on the navigation menu to the left. If after reading the information for the pageant
you are inquiring about, you still have questions, please feel free to visit our "Contact Us" page. We will
be happy to help you in anyway possible.
The entry
form says to provide proof of age, proof of residency and the entry fee when I return it. Last year, I was able to send
in the entry form and fee then bring the proof of age and residency to the first meeting. Why can't I do this again
this year?
As the website states, we have changed the registration process. We will no longer
except any entry form if it does not include all documentation. We have on average 200 contestants participating in
our pageants every year. That's 200 entry forms, 200 proofs of age, 200 proofs of residency and 200 entry fees.
It is very important for us to stay organized so that you and your children get the best experience possible. Unfortunately
we are just volunteers and do not have the time nor the resources to follow-up on every entry that does not have all of the
information required. Any entry that we receive, either by mail or in person, that does not have everything required
(ex, completed form, proof of age, proof of residency & entry fee) will be returned. Sorry, No Exceptions!!
I received my child's entry back. Why was it returned? Can I send it back?
There
is a box at the bottom of the entry form that says "INTERNAL USE ONLY". In this box you will find the reason
the form was returned to you. We will return entries for one of the following reasons: you didn't provide
proof of residency, you didn't provide proof of age, your entry fee was incorrect, the deadline has passed, you included
a check to pay the entry fee instead of cash or money order, the form was incomplete or we ended registration due to
maximum contestant capacity. If the deadline of midnight July 1, 2008 has not passed and we have not ended registration,
then you may correct the entry and return it. Please note that any registration you are correcting and sending back
or dropping off needs to be received by us no later that midnight July 1, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
What
if you return my entry for some reason and I am out of town? Will you let me send it in after July 1st if I am
not able to receive it before the deadline?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to except any
entry after the midnight July 1, 2008 deadline. We understand that there are times that you may not be available due
to a death in the family or a planned vacation. The entry period is open from April 1, 2008-July 1, 2008 and we cannot
make an exception for anyone regardless of the reason. It is our suggestion for anyone entering to do so early and double
check their entry to make sure they have everything requested before turning it in.
How
can I contact the director of my pageant?
You will meet and be given contact information for your
pageant director at the first meeting. If you need to contact them before hand please visit our "Contact Us"
page.
What if I cannot attend the practices?
There will be one mandatory meeting
for each pageant. Please visit the corresponding pageant's page by clicking on the menu to the left to find out when
this meeting is. All participants will be required to be there in order to participate. If for any reason a participant
cannot be at the mandatory meeting, they may have a parent/guardian present on their behalf. *Exception* Baby Show and
Cutie Pie contestants do not have to attend the parent meeting.
Is riding in the parade for Oldham
County Day required?
Participation in the Oldham County Day Parade is a privilege that Miss, Teen
& Princess/Pre-Teen pageant contestants are given each year. Although it is not required for a contestant to be in
the Oldham County Day Parade, it is asked that the participants of these pageants to make an effort to be there.
Where can I get an Entry Form?
You may download
an entry form from this website. There are links on each page that say "click here to download 2008 entry form".
You may also get one from the Oldham Era and the Fair Catalog. Stacks of Entry forms have also been left at different
businesses around Oldham County. If you are unable to obtain an entry form from one of these sources you may contact
us and we would be happy to email a form to you.
I am confused by the entry fees. Why have they
changed?
Each year we have about 200 contestants participate in the Oldham County Fair Pageants.
Each year people wait until the last minute to enter, making it difficult to order awards. This year we are trying a
new registration process with new registration fees. We are leaving the entry period open longer which allows us
to provide discounts to anyone that enters early and penalizes anyone that enters late. It is not a perfect
science, however, we think doing it this way may make it a little easier to place the orders we need to without rushing
them. The entry fees are pretty self explanatory. If you are mailing an entry you need to make sure the post mark
is correct for the fee you send. (example, Early registration ends 06/07/08, if you mail your entry on 06/07/08 after the
post office closes it will be postmarked 06/09/08. In this case you will need to have the on-time fee or the entry
will be returned. There will be no exceptions!) If you have any questions please visit our "Contact Us"
page.
